The Joconde or Portrait of Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa or Portrait of Mona Lisa is a painting by Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) created in early 16th-century Florence. In 1911, the work was stolen by a patriotic Italian glazier who had been working at the Louvre. It was recovered in 1913. The French painter Marcel Duchamp added a mustache to his readymade L.H.O.O.Q. in 1919.
