Notre-Dame de Paris
Victor Hugo's fourth novel is set in the 15th century. Published in 1831, it raised awareness of the dilapidated state of this famous Gothic cathedral. Its restoration, approved in 1845, was led by architects Jean-Baptiste Antoine Lassus and Eugène Viollet-le-Duc.
